A 3D image produced by a raytracer I programmed from scratch in python one evening + night. (starting from blank .py file without libraries -scratch)
The source was ~600 lines of code, with next to no comments and a few experimental but unused functions.
The rendering of this piece (in full-HD size) took about 15 minutes, but I came up with a tenfold optimization shortly after that. There are no scattering effects or higher photonic funtions, since python is a relatively weak language for power-hungry bit crunching like this. There is a shading bug visible in two cubes that I eliminated afterwards.
CPU used: Intel Core i5-3570K @3.40GHz
